Networked Publics

I would definately agree with Dana Boyd's distinguishing features of networked publics as per the reading "Why Youth <3 Social Network Sites: The Role of Networked Publics in Teenage Social Life". She first lists Persistence as a distinguishing feature because once something is posted online it is there for ever and can not be completely erased. Its funny always looking back at older conversations on Facebook to see what was going on in high school or seeing old comments on pictures from years ago. Networked Publics also give us Searchability, the ability to search for people and information and look for people like myself. Searchability is also key for dating sites like match.com. With so many images and quotes online, Replicability is on the rise. Anyone can take and store the information, copy and paste, save and copy pictures of you and you may not even know it. More and more today in the media, people constantly quote peoples twitter status's for information and gossip. There is also the aspect that you may not know who can see your profile, such as the Invisibile Audience. In todays social networking world, it is impossible for us to know exactly who can see our posts and pictures.

The Walking Dead trailer

I just saw the new trailer for AMC's upcoming television series "The Walking Dead" and it looks great for a zombie television show. It seems sort of like 28 Days Later.
The show will premiere this October.
